From a 90-year anniversary identity to brand activations and new business opportunities.

To celebrate its 90th anniversary, Tivoli Hotels & Resorts commissioned an exclusive visual identity. Inspired by the 1930s and the brand’s heritage, our design features a modern take on Art Deco. To create a greater impact and generate business, we developed premium brand activations, from exclusive rooms to a one-of-a-kind experience across five-star Tivoli hotels.

This milestone was a unique opportunity to showcase the ever-evolving heritage of Tivoli’s brand.

Challenge.

As Tivoli Hotels & Resorts’ first hotel was about to celebrate its 90th anniversary, Born was invited to design this festive identity.

Since the first Tivoli Hotel opened its doors, Portugal, the tourism and hospitality industries and Tivoli itself had dramatically changed.

In this light, this milestone was a unique opportunity to showcase the ever-evolving heritage of Tivoli’s brand and its properties and generate more business for the future.

Visual Identity.

Three elements informed the creation of the anniversary identity: the era when the first Tivoli was established, its location and the brand’s essence.

Established in 1933 on Lisbon’s most iconic boulevard, Tivoli Avenida Liberdade quickly became a landmark of premium hospitality, being sought out by royalty and acclaimed actors and artists.

Our design approach was a modern take on Art Deco typography in polished copper tones over Tivoli’s royal blue. The 20s aesthetics also inspired a pattern motif, applied with embossed texture in premium packages.

We applied this identity across different media, such as a film, a landing page aggregating exclusive experiences, a collection of themed notebooks, and a special edition of amenities.

Brand Activation.

To showcase the finest Tivoli experience, we created The Timeless Tour: an exclusive 10-day journey among some of Tivoli’s five-star hotels and resorts, with tailor-made amenities, cuisine, wellness and local activities. This brand activation allowed Tivoli to create a Timeless Tour film and a landing page that further expanded the brand’s heritage, innovation and standards of excellence. These activations' branding and commercial success led them beyond 2023. The Timeless Tour is still available in Portugal as the ultimate Tivoli experience, and five-star Tivoli properties worldwide are creating their own Room 90, now called The Timeless Room.
